There are many opportunities for involvement with worship. If you
are interested in servings as an Usher, Greeter, Lector, or Van
Driver on Sunday mornings, please contact the Church Office. Altar
Guild and
the Worship, Music, and Arts Committee also allow
members to contribute.
Altar Guild
Altar Guild members take care of the altar area. Responsibilities include setup and cleanup of the altar for worship services, with or without communion, changing paraments as scheduled by the church year calendar and cleaning linens when needed. Members rotate these duties with two members scheduled each Sunday, one for each of the two services. Members meet monthly in the evening to discuss guild issues and requirements. Pastor Winder leads a Bible study using resources from Lutheran Woman Today. We warmly welcome new members. Men are welcome. Contact Donna Shy or Pastor Winder at the Church Office.
Worship,
Music, and Arts Committee
The Worship, Music and Arts Committee has the goal to offer the Faith Lutheran Church congregation the maximum opportunity to focus on worship of Christ through presentation of the Gospel in a variety of means, including Word, music, the Arts and liturgy, in an encouraging environment. Contact Kathy Brandstetter.
Previous activities of the WMA committee have included:
- Ordering new hymnals to replace worn, damaged and lost hymnals.
- Increasing the number of large print bulletins available each Sunday.
- Researching the feasibility of and recommended the removal of the first pew and the modesty panel on the pulpit side of the sanctuary to better facilitate signing line-of-sight for the hearing impaired.
- Continuing to explore ways to involve children and teens in the worship life of the church such as arranging for Sunday School to participate in the 10:30 AM service via processionals, singing special hymns and bell choir membership.
- Promoting the Summer Volunteer Choir.
- Revising the lectors' brochure; arranging microphone checks for all lectors, setting up training dates for new lectors and updating training for current lectors.
- Researching ways to enhance the Sanctuary musically, since the Remodel Project doesn't include the sanctuary yet.
- Adding Old Testament story tellers during the season of Pentecost.
- Researching and offering a sample of liturgical dance for our sanctuary.
- Inviting parishioners to write poetry compositions about God and worship to be read during a series of worship services.
Joy Van and Access Van
Faith Lutheran provides rides for seniors
and handicapped, who do not drive, to Sunday worship and other church
events. We currently support two vans, one for group travel and one
with a wheelchair lift and a capacity for three chairs. Each Sunday
two volunteer drivers pick up people who have requested rides through
the Church Office or the ride coordinator. The driver list rotates
and at the present time most people on the list drive about once a
month. Additional volunteers would be most welcome! We especially could
use volunteers who would be willing to drive for events on weekdays.
